Without formal training, I led a group that enabled transmission of critical combat communications when traditional routes failed. In fact, our injection of new technology created competitive advantage for the business of conducting warfare. Operational data that once took most of the day to transmit was delivered within seconds. The speed enabled a faster planning cycle and adjustment of resources to key objectives (getting people and things in the right place at the right time). Imagine leading a team of over 100 people and being responsible for over 1000 changes a year in a data center, building 3 data centers in less than 2 years, and relocating twice without an outage.
As the VP of IT Operations for a fast moving healthcare bill review company (CorVel), I led a team of hard working young technologists through a number of big enterprise changes, consolidating a distributed environment, and implemented world-class enterprise IT solutions. Our result? Customer growth, faster processing of bills, increased capacity for new clients, 100% redundancy in operations, and ability to scale the business by 10x.

Imagine working for one of the greatest athletic companies of all time: Nike! At Nike things are fast and people sprint to the opportunity. The ability to deliver great products to the market quickly and on demand is critical to strategy. Imagine leading the central IT group through a complex redesign during a season of $4-5b in revenue growth.
As the Director of IT for Nike's America's region, and as a member of the CIO's executive team, I led a group of 20 peer Directors through an organizational change that realigned a $300m organization to the business just in time for exploding growth. IT systems became a critical element of core business functions. Forecasting, sales, design, development, manufacturing, retail, distribution, and operations were all impacted positively, greatly improving product and innovation throughput for the entire organization.
