How to Grow Leaders?

We often hear this question. Captus5 has the answer:

Teach Your Future Leaders How to Learn.
Is it really that simple? We have found that many of the best leaders in history, those able to overcome dynamic obstacles in the most trying circumstances have a common ability to think, to reason, and to apply situation-crafted solutions.
They led and people followed. People followed because the leader understood the cause, the people, and the culture.

The Captus5 approach is unique. We do not mire leaders down with the latest theory or catchy book title. We reach deepr and instead of telling leaders what WE think they need to know, we help them discover truths about leadership, people, and organizations. Our process prepares them for a rich future of dynamic leadership.

Leadership is not a simple equation. We don't send someone off to a school or training event and expect him or her to return as a great leader. We believe leadership development is a lifetime process. Captus5 focuses on helping leaders uncover true knowledge - the kind that lives in the heart and mind, and empowers change, growth, and sustained conviction.

Program Format

Be prepared to get involved, to uncover new ideas, to explore controversy, and to use your personnel experiences and learning to shed light on new ways in which to lead people.

The learning model follows a pattern of: Read, Watch, Write, Discuss, Experience, Reflect and Present.

A series of articles, films, short historical vignettes, fiction literature, and biographical literature are selected as method for turning the curriculum topics into tools for leadership.

Participants read the assigned material, and watch the assigned film (usually as part of class) and discuss among their peers in the class the lessons and implications.

  • We use carefully selected HBR articles and case studies that inspire thought and application.
  • We use fiction and non-fiction to help stimulate models for learning about causes, people, and organizations.
  • We use film to deomnstrate principles and facilitate projection of that principle into life's real circumstances.
  • We use reflection exercises so that concepts become customized to the unique challenges the leader faces in his or her unique setting.

The Final Follower

Not everything is leadership. Too often we say about some action “that was great leadership” when in reality what occurred was not leadership at all.
